Roots of Resilience is a paid environmental justice leadership program for Black and BIPOC high school youth. From October 2026 through June 2027, a small cohort explores Washington State together, builds a Climate Resilience Toolkit, and learns how community advocacy actually happens. Includes a $900 stipend, gear to keep, and a park pass.

Middle School Rest Retreat 2026
Rest, explore, and reconnect with nature. Give your middle schooler a three-day overnight retreat in the breathtaking North Cascades with Braided Seeds, August 12 - 14. An unplugged adventure to recharge, make new friends, and create memories that will last! Open to ages 11-14, Cost: $50.

Kids to Parks Day 2026

With forecasts showing worsening air quality, we made the proactive decision to cancel rather than put participants at risk. This was a difficult call, and we know it’s disappointing.

Braided Seeds and the US Forest Service are teaming up for Kids to Parks Day with a gentle, family-friendly guided hike at CCC Road: Upper Trailhead in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Valley on Saturday, August 1st, 10:00am - 2:30pm.
All ages and experience levels welcome. We keep a slow pace. Youth 18 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. Everyone must register, and we can provide hiking clothing, poles, or boots if you note it on the form.

EYFO Outdoor Reclamation Trips 2026
Braided Seeds is partnering again with Empowering Youth & Families Outreach (EYFO) to offer eight Fridays of outdoor adventure, art, and connection across Seattle this July and August. A summer of rest, joy, and reconnection with the land for our youth awaits.

Outdoor Reclamation Series w/ Big City Mountaineers
Are you aged 13-18, BIPOC, and curious about the outdoors? Are you interested in going camping or backpacking, but have felt excluded or not known how? This series is for you! This series is an opportunity for you to build skill, community, and belonging in the outdoors.
We'll start out with a day hike in April, move on to an overnight camping trip in May, and end with a three day backpacking expedition in the end of June.
Pod Pop Up: Squid Jigging
Join us for an evening of Squid Jigging at the Point Defiance Marina in Tacoma! 🦑
Whether it’s your first time or you’re already a seasoned squid jigger, come share in the fun! We’re partnering with Sea Potential, Outdoor Asian, and the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife to provide free gear rentals, show you how to catch squid, and keep everyone cozy with hot drinks. We'll even do a live cleaning demo and cook up some fresh calamari for you!
